Bissell Centre is deeply rooted in Edmonton’s fight against poverty. Volunteers help in roles like Food Services (sorting, packaging, kitchen work), Thrift Shop assistance, Reception & front desk, bread delivery, tax clinic intake, and other supports. They offer both one-shift and ongoing roles. Importantly, student practicums are explicitly offered on a term basis.
Volunteers receive orientation, gain valuable work experience (references available after three months), and can earn perks like thrift shop discounts. Bissell also accommodates group volunteering and ensures accessibility. Roles require some screening such as references, and some roles have age or vaccination requirements.
